    Current Position- (since 1985) Senior Computer Programmer Analyst, US Dept. of Commerce, International Trade Administration , Office of Textiles and Apparel (Washington, D.C.).
     

  • Managed Textiles Management Information System (TIMS).
  • Transformed application development operation into a model of computer effectiveness.
  • Migrated a large mainframe system to a PC based environment, resulting in significant cost savings and a more responsive and flexible information management system.
  • Initiated development in SAS software, Lotus Notes databases, Internet web pages and other computer technology to disseminate data more efficiently to the public.
  • Initiated and implemented security policies and procedures to protect data, file and web servers, and workstations.
  • Developed and tested system contingency plans to protect data and to keep TIMS fully functional.

  • These plans incorporated redundancy of resources, off-site storage of data and software, and off-site data processing.
  • Implemented a system to replace cumbersome hard copy reports and publications with CD/R discs, Intranet, and Internet applications, at a substantial cost savings to customers.

    January 1983-May 1985: Computer Programmer Analyst, U.S. Dept of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, Foreign Trade Division, Special Projects Branch (Washington, D.C.). I have provided database management and programming support on various mainframe and personal computers. Working closely with analysts, I have designed many databases and their user-friendly interfaces. I have successfully redesigned a crucial statistical database system, a poorly documented twenty year accumulation of several computer languages.
